The Divide: Race and Culture – Let’s face it, we all like to be around people who are like us. But when we only surround ourselves with people who are like us, it makes it easy to get (at best) complacent or (at worst) jaded about the struggles of those who are not like us. But the first step in healing our great divides is “getting proximate” to those who are different than we are. When we get near to others, where suspicion and misunderstanding once reigned, empathy and respect will now grow.
