Deciding what we want to pass on to future generations is only half the work—determining how is even harder.

After we take a hard look at all the patterns we’ve received, it’s important that don’t fall into the trap of blaming those who came before us or seeing ourselves as victims. Each generation and each person must learn to take responsibility for whatever they’ve received, no matter how heavy or unfair it seems. In owning, we find power and freedom.
