430 years before God gave the law, he made a promise and the substance of that promise was simple, “I am going to bless you and you will be a blessing.” For some reason, we don’t feel as though believing that promise is enough and so we wear God out with our own empty promises of obedience, piety, and devotion, even those of us living after Jesus’ appearing, in whom all God’s promises are yes.
