This week we’ll remember one of Jesus’ final acts before his crucifixion that culminates, not surprisingly, during the Hebrew Passover. In the Passover, the Jewish people celebrated their rescue from the slavery and plagues of Egypt by God’s mighty hand. By this act, Jesus will make clear that he will replace the Passover Lamb in an even greater act of forgiveness and rescue, an act that we are to celebrate and “remember” until he returns.
